Pueblo Community Health Center

V-Cap financed the first net-zero health center in the U.S.: Pueblo Community Health Center (PCHC) in Colorado.

As the sole FQHC in Pueblo, PCHC has grown rapidly over the last 37 years to serve a diverse population of over 27,000 patients every year. There is high demand for primary care in Pueblo and the surrounding area driven by an aging population, chronic disease, higher rates of uninsured patients, higher rates of patients using Medicaid or Medicare, and a shortage of primary care providers.

V-Cap along with Self-Help provided the $14 million of new debt needed for this $32 million New Markets Tax Credit financing of the new Pueblo Eastside Clinic. The new facility will double the patients Pueblo serves in a state-of the art, fully integrated facility. The expansion will also stimulate job growth in the Eastside neighborhood as PCHC retains 54 FTEs and creates an additional 49 FTEs for a total of 103 FTEs in the first seven years.
